In 2023, I was tasked with creating a campaign around the launch of a new SITKA Studio collaboration between SITKA and The James Brand: The Anzick Outdoor Chef’s Knife.

CULINARY QUALITY,
FIELD DURABILITY.

When your cutting board is a tailgate and your cooktop is a bed of coals, you need a knife that can endure the elements. The problem is that most chef’s knives are built for kitchens, and we’ve ruined our fair share pushing them past their limit. We spent years battling broken tips, rolled edges, and blades that rusted up at the first sign of water. That’s why we partnered with The James Brand to create a modern outdoor chef’s knife that combines culinary-quality with the durability required for life in the field.

WE OBSESSED
THE DETAILS.

We spent two years working with The James Brand, chefs, and hunters to design a professional-grade chef’s knife that was tough enough to spend its life outside. The full-tang blade is constructed from MagnaCut steel that combines the toughness and durability of high carbon steel with the corrosion resistance of stainless, and the high-grip handle provides improved control in wet conditions. The Anzick is a chef’s knife that bridges the gap between what nature demands and cooking requires.

Our earliest days were spent huddled around a flame, cooking meat to sustain ourselves in a wilderness we shared with the animals we hunted. But over time, we lost touch with where our food comes from, choosing comfort and convenience over a deeper connection.

Cooking over an open fire gives us the chance to return to the most elemental version of ourselves. There are few better feelings than breathing life into kindling on the shoreline where we caught a fish, or deep in the same forest where we tracked down our dinner.

The crackling sound of burning wood, the smell of roasting meat and smoke awakens something primal inside all of us. It’s not easy but it’s worth it.

Brand Anthem

I wrote this brief brand anthem to help inspire the collaboration between The James Brand x SITKA Studio, and rally both teams around the creative direction of the Anzick Outdoor Chef’s Knife.

Social Media Content

I wrote all of the copy for the social and digital extensions of the James Brand x SITKA Studio shoot in Hawaii. These included teasers leading up to the release, short form videos for Instagram, and lifestyle photography.
